Louise Aurora Getsinger (1 November , – 2 May ), known as Lua, was one of the first Western members of the Bahá'í Faith, [1] recognized as joining the religion on May 21, , just two years after Thornton Chase.Lua Getsinger was one of the early Bahá'ís in the West who visited 'Abdu'l-Bahá in the prison-city of 'Akká.
Lua was the sixth of 10 children born to Ellen McBride and her husband Reuben D. Moore in Hume, New York, a rural small town located in western New York State's Allegany County, about 90 kilometers south of Lake Ontario.Lua was raised along with her 9 siblings in a small town in New York called Hume.
You can remind the children of the story of Lua Getsinger they heard in Lesson 2 regarding prayer and then tell them the following story about her, which will help illustrate for them what it means to be a servant of God.This is a story of one of the early Baha'is in the West, Lua Getsinger, and an important lesson she learned about prayer.
The journey of Lua (Louisa) Aurora Getsinger () is one such example. She was the first female American Bahá’í to go on Pilgrimage to the Holy Land in , to receive a Tablet from the Master and to be trained by Him in serving the Faith of His Father.
Ascension of abdu l bahá
There are many stories of Lua Getsinger. This one was told me by Grace Ober, who heard it from Lua herself. It happened on one of Lua's several visits to Acca and Haifa when she and ‘Abdu’l-Bahá were walking together on the beach. Lua dropped behind slightly and began fitting her small feet, into His much larger foot prints. The Proud Helper - Kalimát Press

May came in contact with the Bahá’í Faith through a close family friend named Phoebe Hearst. But it was Lua Getsinger who lit the flame of love for God within her heart. The moment May set eyes on Lua, she was astounded by the spirit and inner fire that she saw in her and sought with her entire being to understand it.Supporting the Core Activities
